University of Exeter - Hospitality Services

Hospitality Services provides support services for the University of Exeter. This comprises of student accommodation, campus catering, conference activities, commercial catering, security and general facilities management across campus. There are three campus locations Streatham Campus and St Luke’s Campus within Exeter City and the new CUC in Tremough, Cornwall.

Hospitality Services chose the Welcome to Excellence programme because they are tailored for the industry, are very interactive courses, offer theory based information plus practical exercises and the trainers are happy to tailor the content to fit business requirements. It was also important to us that Welcome to Excellence is a Nationally recognised training programme.

Over the last two years we have run over 40 courses and evaluation forms completed by staff have shown a very high satisfaction with the courses. Our staff have participated in Welcome Host, Welcome Host Plus, Welcome All, Welcome Management and Welcome International.

Welcome Host has all the elements needed to deliver excellent customer service and all new staff attend this course.

Welcome Management has supported our managers in their understanding of business plans and objective setting along with setting a customer service strategy.

Welcome All has enabled our staff to go back into the workplace with lots of practical tips in providing great customer service to customers with disabilities. There are great practical elements in this course.

Welcome International is new to our portfolio, with the University increasing its international student base we are sure it is one of the courses that we will use on a regular basis.

Our future plans will be to focus on Welcome International and there might be the need to add Welcome Line to the portfolio.

The Welcome to Excellence Courses provides a comprehensive package from which you can ‘pick and mix’ to suit your business needs. I would recommend the courses to others.
