A very warm welcome to Blackpool
Blackpool is to launch its biggest ever customer service programme as part of a united effort to drive up quality across the resort.
Welcome To Blackpool is a new, one-day product knowledge training course that will be aimed at frontline staff in the hospitality, leisure, retail and tourism sectors.
It is hoped that up to 3,000 local people will go through the programme over the next two years or so with the intention of greatly improving the overall visitor experience.
The project represents another “first” for Blackpool – it has been written specifically for Blackpool and it is the first time such an ambitious programme has been rolled out by a coastal resort in the UK.
The programme – which is to be launched at Pleasure Beach, Blackpool, on Wednesday 5th November – has been developed by Regional Tourist Board Partnerships Ltd on behalf of Blackpool Council, BlackpoolUnlimited.com and Lancashire & Blackpool Tourist Board.
It forms part of the nationally accredited Welcome To Excellence series of training programmes.
The focal point of the one-day workshops – which will initially be offered free of charge to participating businesses – is a 60-page participant manual containing detailed information on Blackpool past, present and future and illustrated with stunning photos of the resort.
Cllr Maxine Callow, Cabinet Member for Tourism & Regeneration for Blackpool Council, said: “The Welcome To Blackpool programme is all about enriching the visitor experience through high levels of customer service and product knowledge.
“We believe that this programme will help to restore a positive image of Blackpool for out-of-town visitors and create a real sense of civic pride for our residents.
“We want employees to enjoy the Welcome To Blackpool experience, learn more about the town and all that it has to offer and then go out and spread the word.”
