Sandcastle Waterworld puts training firmly at the fore

More than 50 employees
have been put through their paces at Sandcastle Waterworld, Blackpool to achieve
the Welcome to Excellence Award.
Welcome to Excellence is a highly successful national customer service initiative
with a series of programmes delivered and managed by the Lancashire and Blackpool
Tourist Board and supported by the Northwest Regional Development Agency (NWDA)
for the whole of the North West region.
Staff from all areas of Sandcastle Waterworld including kitchen assistants through
to life guards spent three days dealing with all aspects of training in relation
to providing disabled guests with a quality tourism experience at the highly
credited Blackpool attraction.
The training comes as the Blackpool landmark has spent more than £30,000
on improvements to the promenade building including access ramps, changing areas
and lifts for disabled access to the water.
Says Managing Director, John Child,
“Over the years we have spent time and money on improvements for disabled access - but we wanted to go further. By investing in Welcome to Excellence training for all the staff we can provide consistent high levels of customer service to our visitors as well as develop a highly motivated and well trained workforce.”
In addition to
Welcome to Excellence, Sandcastle Waterworld stages in-house training in customer
care.
Said Helen Aldous of Welcome to Excellence,
“Sandcastle
Waterworld has developed a fantastic working relationship with one of our key
trainers, Katy Moussada. The Welcome to Excellence training is proving to be
both inspirational and enjoyable for all concerned and resulting in tangible
business benefits including increased customer satisfaction.”
